BAA Top-Level Data Model

Summary :-
Data Sources ----> Mapping Specifications ----> Subject Area Models ----> Top-Level Conceptual Model
Steps in using this Model :-
1.Discuss this Model with business stakeholders and all interested parties.
2.Create Subject Area Models
3.Use Subject Area Models as the target for mapping source data from 'Line of Business' Systems.
4.Create Models for Data Sources - perhaps by Reverse Enginering from existing Databases.
5.Produce Mapping specifications for each item of data to be migrated from Data Source to Subject Area Target.
6.Carry out Mapping until completed to satisfaction of Stakeholders.
Top-Level Conceptual Model
The specifications haved been derived from our professional experience and a review of the BAA Web Site (renamed to Heathrow).
The Data Migration is done in the context of this Reference Data Architecture.
BAA Top-Level Data Model Subject Areas can be created for each Entity, and here are three examples :-
  • Airlines
  • Employees
  • Schedules
Airbus is developing a ‘smart' Bag2o that can be rented and comes with an RFID Tag that allows bags to be tracked during their journey by an iPhone ‘Find My Bag’ app
The Taq can also be recognised by automated baggage systems that connect the bag with a passenger’s specific flight.
