Back to the Data Model.
The Area being Modelled is :-
Auctions with Silent Bids
Hello Barry,
I am hoping you might be able to offer some structure guidance.
I am working on a silent auction database (in MS access for this version) and your thought on a table structure would be helpful.
I have the following tables: items, donors, bidders and BidItems plus other small supporting tables for lookups etc.
Some of the desirable items can be bid on as a single item whereas some of the less desirable items must be packaged/grouped into a
more desirable item.
Some items have minimum (or reserved price) bids which must be adhered to regardless of an individual or grouped bid item.
Every item must have an item bid number either as an individual or group. An associated bid sheet will be generated.
I am a bit unsure of the optimal structure; my db design skills have become a little rusty over the years.
I am attaching a PDF which may be helpful.
I have not attempted normalization at this point so some fields will be added/deleted.
Any advice you may offer appreciated. Feel free to share with the world!
Regards,
Andy
