The Automotive industry was one of the first to adopt a 'Platform' approach.
This provided a common framework for a wide range of models.
Wikipedia defines an
Automobile Platform in the following terms :-
"An automobile platform is a shared set of common components used in a number of different models and types of automobiles.
This is done to reduce costs by basing products on a small number of platforms."
We have extended the same concept to Service Delivery Platforms.
